Description for Appalachian Splendor
While “Appalachian Splendor” is indeed a suitable name for this cabin, we could have also called it “What a View,” because that’s what you’re likely to say as soon as you arrive here. Though the cabin nestles among towering trees, you can nonetheless savor panoramic views of the Smoky Mountains. The setting is so bucolic and seemingly secluded, you’ll find it tough to believe that the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin is only 10 minutes from always-hopping downtown Gatlinburg.

It wouldn’t be a true Smoky Mountain cabin without rockers or a swing on the front porch—and Appalachian Splendor has both. Sip your morning coffee on a rocker as the mist rises from the mountains; nestle with your sweetheart on the swing as you enjoy a nightcap under the stars. From the rear deck you can watch falcons and eagles soar above Mount LeConte as you sit down to a meal at the picnic table. And best of all, when you return from a day of hiking, biking, or thrill rides, you can treat your tired muscles to a soak in the deck’s hot tub. The combination of the steamy jets of water and the cool mountain breeze is perfection.

Appalachian Splendor is just as restful indoors. The main floor’s great room includes beamed wood ceilings, split-log walls, and a stone-surround wood-burning fireplace sure to be a favorite feature on brisk winter evenings. (Speaking of which, because this is a mountain area and the cabin’s driveway is somewhat steep to boot, vehicles with 4-wheel drive or tire chains are strongly advised in winter.) When you’re not playing charades by the fire or stretched out on a sofa for a nap, you can watch cable TV or surf the web via the free WiFi.

Another option is to play a board game at the dining table—when you’re not using it for meals, of course. The table seats 4, and there’s room for 3 more at the adjacent breakfast bar. The kitchen is equipped with a full array of appliances, cookware, and tableware, and the open layout lets you watch TV or keep an eye on the little ones as you cook. Alongside the full-size refrigerator/freezer are a washer and a dryer—talk about convenient!

One of Appalachian Splendor’s 2 bedrooms is on the main floor. As well as a queen-size bed, it features a TV, a ceiling fan for evenings when it’s not quite warm enough for the central air-conditioning, and a mountain view you’ll love waking up to. Upstairs is the spacious master bedroom, where a king-size bed takes place of pride beneath the vaulted ceiling. This room also has a TV and lovely views. The loft includes a bonus sleeping area, with another queen-size bed, so that up to 6 guests can spend the night.

Each floor has its own full bathroom. The loft’s bathroom is especially pampering: It includes a jetted tub large enough for 2 people. You and your special someone can savor a steamy soak to start a romantic evening in splendid style.

Appalachian Splendor’s wonderful location does more than ensure you’ll never tire of the mountain views. It also makes it easy for you to explore the many local attractions. The cabin is only 10 minutes from the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community and from downtown Gatlinburg, where attractions range from Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies to Sugarlands Distilling Company to mountain coasters. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a true must-visit, is just 15 minutes from Appalachian Splendor, as are Dollywood and Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.

Sounds fabulous, doesn’t it? Don’t miss out; book your stay at Appalachian Splendor today and start planning what might be your best vacation yet.

Reviews for Appalachian Splendor
Appalachian Splendor is the one!
Our whole family loved this unit. I, as the mother, loved the wonderful view and large front porch, the convenience of a washer and dryer, and the two bathrooms. The kids loved the air hockey table. My husband loved the couch and cable TV. It was great having a cable TV in two of the bedrooms also. The decor was charming. Everything was very clean. The hot tub on the back porch is very secluded. The unit also smelled clean. Not damp or musty. I am very  sensitive to smell and that is always the first thing I notice. The air conditioning motor fan went out the first night but Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg had it fixed the very next day. The unit worked fine for the rest of our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No rudeness or unprofessionalism at all. (These days that is very hard to find.) A word of warning: do not put out the trash until you check out as the animals will get into it every night! After two days, I just kept it inside the cabin. The drive up to the cabin is not for the faint of heart! The last 100 feet is very steep. None of us wanted to leave. My husband, when we were locking the door to leave, said "Good bye little cabin!" and my husband is very hard to please when it comes to accommodations! This is a wonderful cabin!

Heaven on earth
If you really want to enjoy the mountain experience, this cabin is the place to be. High up on a mountain top with a beautiful view of the mountains off in the distance and Gatlinburg. Not only could you see the clouds kissing the mountains but actually being a part of it was awesome.  The sun shining on the distant mountainside at sunset made them look like they were on fire. The two story cabin was great. Plenty of room for large families even though there were on two of us. Two sleeping areas upstairs with an overlook of the large family room downstairs. Another bedroom downstairs as well as a fully equiped kitchen. There was even a hideabed in the couch in the family room. This cabin would easily accommodate eight people. The large deck out back has a hot tub in a private setting and the long front porch has several rocking chairs and a swing. If you don't mind a steep drive up with limited parking area fitting at most two cars this cabin is the place to be. Lets keep this place our little secret. I wouldn't want it to be booked up next time. Why anybody in there right mind would want to stay in a motel room and pay to eat out when they can stay here and cook what they want, when they want for about the same money and have a great view is beyond me. One last note, this rental cabin is right in the same area as the arts and crafts community. We spent two days just shopping the loop and barely scratched the surface of the number of stores and shops. You can even drive to the nearby park and ride area for the trolley and go anywhere. Either downtown or the arts and crafts loop. I just can't say enough good things about this place. You'll have to see it to believe it.

Escaping the Florida heat!
We spent 4 nights at Appalachian Splendor. The cabin was great, the scenery was beautiful. The temperature was a great break from the Florida heat. We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone.
