River’s Edge, 3 Bedrooms, On Stocked Stream, Hot Tub, Grill, Sleeps 8
Gatlinburg - Smoky Mountains
On the banks of Little Pigeon River, nestled in a valley of the Great Smoky Mountains, River’s Edge is gorgeous. And so are the views of the river and the surrounding woods from the chalet’s front porch and great room.
Because it overlooks the trout-stocked Little Pigeon River, the 3-bedroom home will delight anglers—fabulous fishing is just steps from your front door! River’s Edge will also please anyone who uses a wheelchair, as the house offers accessible features including an entry ramp and wide doorways. The main floor’s en-suite bedrooms offers additional floor space for maneuverability and easy-to-access showers. That’s in addition to their king-size beds, TVs, and jetted tubs, of course.
After a day of fishing, hiking, biking, or exploring Dollywood, you’ll relish the restorative pulsing of the tub’s steamy water. Or you can head outside, to the hot tub on the porch. After all, if a soak in a bubbly tub is good, a soak in a bubbly tub that’s out in the fresh air has got to be great!
Speaking of great, wait till you see the great room. A 20-foot-high wall of windows looks out beyond the porch and the treetops to the river, bringing the grandeur of nature indoors. What’s more, the sunshine streaming in shows off the beauty of the hand-rubbed pine walls to perfection.
When you can tear your gaze away from the view outside, the great room is a comfortable, inviting spot to watch a movie (the TV receives HBO and other movie channels, plus it has a DVD player). Or you might want to play Pictionary with family and friends, or kick back in the recliner beside the wood-burning fireplace with a good book.
The dining area is another spacious gathering spot. The table seats 6, and there’s room for 4 more at the adjacent breakfast bar. If you have company, you can serve the kids at the counter and let the adults enjoy a leisurely meal at the table. Another option is dine alfresco at the table on the porch. The fresh breeze, the rushing of the river over the rocks, and the singing of the wrens and warblers will make even the simplest meal seem like a feast.
If a feast is what you want, the kitchen is more than up to the task. It’s stocked with all the appliances, gadgets, pots, pans, and tableware you could possibly need, even if you’re going so far as to host a holiday meal. For good measure, there’s a charcoal grill outside. And because nobody wants to scrub plates during vacation, River’s Edge has a dishwasher.
The 3rd bedroom is upstairs, in the loft. Because the bedroom and its private bath are the only rooms on that level, they offer maximum privacy. And the view from the queen-size bed is truly spectacular—you’ll almost feel as if you’re in a treehouse. If you need to accommodate additional guests, one of the great room’s sofas opens into a bed for 2, enabling River’s Edge to sleep up to 8 people in total.
You could happily while away most of your stay in the chalet or exploring its immediate surroundings. But then you’d be missing out on the attractions of downtown Gatlinburg, just a 15-minute drive away; these range from an aquarium to Ripley’s Believe It or Not to mini golf. Also close by is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where you can hike, bike, and ride horses among wildflowers and wildlife. Even Dollywood is only a half-hour away.
As soon as you pull up the driveway, you can tell that River’s Edge is no ordinary mountain cabin. And when you stay here, you won’t have an ordinary vacation. See for yourself; book your stay today!
