Dancing Bear Lodge, 6 Bedrooms, Pool, Golf, WiFi, Shuffleboard, Sleeps 19
Able to sleep up to 19 people in its 6 en-suite bedrooms, Dancing Bear Lodge will make your group vacation or family reunion one you’ll always treasure. Located in the 1,000-acre resort village of Cobbly Nob, the home looks out onto the Greenbrier Pinnacle and Mount LeConte. Despite its peaceful, bucolic setting, however, it’s less than a half-hour to the attractions of downtown Gatlinburg and only a few miles from Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by Masters and British Open champion Gary Player.
Encompassing more than 4,300 square feet over 3 stories, Dancing Bear Lodge includes numerous spaces, inside and out, where the whole group can gather. One of its 2 covered decks wraps around the entire home so that you can watch the sunrise from one side of the lodge and the sunset from another. You’ll find plenty of deck rockers—a Smoky Mountain must-have—from which you can savor the views. Or for a truly luxurious sensory treat, soak up the scenery, the fresh breeze, and the singing of the birds while lazing amid the steamy bubbles of the deck’s hot tub. Life doesn’t get better than this!
The 20-foot windowed wall of the great room lets you enjoy the views even as you warm up by the fireplace, curl up in a plush armchair with a book, or sprawl out on one of the leather sofas to watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable. This gorgeously furnished, the wood-clad room has enough seating to accommodate everyone, and the towering ceiling ensures that even claustrophobes won’t feel the least bit cramped.
The dining area is similarly spacious. As many as 12 people can sit at the dining table, and 4 more can sidle up to the adjacent breakfast bar. If you’re vacationing with kids, they’ll love being able to eat “by themselves” there.
The breakfast bar doubles as additional counter space for the large, open kitchen. Packed with appliances, gadgets, cookware, and serve ware, the kitchen also offers a wealth of elbow room and storage; you can load up on groceries at the beginning of your stay, rather than make daily forays to the supermarket. There’s a charcoal grill outside too so that you can enjoy a Smoky Mountain barbecue—fresh-caught trout tastes especially fabulous when grilled.
Downstairs is what’s sure to be another favorite hangout spot: the game room. When you’re not shooting pool at the full-size billiard table, you can play tabletop shuffleboard, settle in for a rummy marathon at the bistro table, watch a movie on the large-screen TV or the news on the smaller corner set, or stretch out for a nap on the plush queen size sleeper sofa. There's also three day beds with trundles for all the children in your group. Sleepover time!
Each of Dancing Bear Lodge’s 6 bedrooms is actually a master suite, with a king-size bed, a TV, and a private bathroom—no one ends up with the short straw when it comes to picking bedrooms. The upstairs bedrooms include a daybed that can sleep a 3rd person, making them especially convenient for couples with a child.
Dancing Bear Lodge’s other amenities include free WiFi, a washer, and a dryer. What’s more, when you stay here in the summer, you’ll have free access to Cobbly Nob’s 3 outdoor swimming pool areas, so don’t forget your bathing suits and sunscreen.
The lodge’s convenient location is another amenity. As well as being just a few miles from Bent Creek Golf Course, it’s close to the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop, an 8-mile trail of more than 100 galleries, studios, and shops. In less than 20 minutes you can drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which you can explore on foot, on horseback, by bike, or by car. And the numerous attractions of downtown Gatlinburg—the Guinness World Records Museum, an aquarium, thrill rides, arcades—are less than a half-hour away.
It’s practically impossible to have anything but a fabulous time when you stay at Dancing Bear Lodge. So book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it!
